Your Retirement Blueprint

Our Easy 4 Step Process to help you take command of your retirement

Step 1: Schedule a 30-Min Discovery Call

Let’s find out if our expertise aligns with your objectives.

Step 2: Getting to Know You - 1 Hour Meeting

The next step is to meet virtually, or in-person to understand your current situation, retirement objectives, and what might be keeping you up at night so we know what to address in your customized Retirement Blueprint.

Step 3: Review your Retirement Blueprint

We will spend time reviewing and explaining your Retirement Blueprint, which will lay out our findings and, more importantly, your Blueprint recommendations. Depending on your situation, this may take one or two meetings.

Our goal is to show you exactly how you can improve your retirement plan, maximize your lifestyle, and not run out of money - without pinching pennies.

After we have answered all of your questions, we will schedule a follow-up call and give you time to digest the information and “sleep on it.”

Step 4: Follow-up Call.

In this call, you will have a chance to get answers to any outstanding questions and let us know if you would like to move forward in the process by putting your Retirement Blueprint into practice. There will never be any pressure to move forward. We are looking for a long-term partnership only with those who feel we are a good fit.

  • Can you meet virtually with me instead of in person?

Absolutely, in fact, since the pandemic, our practice has been almost exclusively virtual. We are always happy to meet in person, but most of our clients find a Zoom meeting more convenient and just as productive.

  • How do you get paid?

We charge an initial project fee to create your customized Retirement Blueprint just as an architect would before building a house. Our Blueprint is a stand-alone service. We are fee-based advisors and can help you implement your Blueprint (as a contractor would build your home). Our money-management fees are based on your situation and are a transparent line items on your statement. For those clients who require guaranteed investment or insurance products, we operate as an independent broker and therefore the companies compensate us directly, so you don’t have to.

  • How are you different from other advisors?

Our retirement expertise goes beyond working with individual clients and couples. As a nationally ranked Top 100 401(k) advisor, we have helped employers design and manage the very plans that many of our clients accumulated most of their retirement assets. We have done countless transactions assisting our clients in navigating the rollover process, deciding on pension payouts, social security planning, designing private pension plans, and creating retirement paychecks for life.

  • What credentials/recognition does your firm have?

Steve Cunha our founder and managing partner has over 28 years industry experience. He is a Series 7 licensed registered representative, Registered Investment Advisor, Licensed Insurance Broker in multiple states, CFP - Certified Financial Planner practitioner. C(k)P - Certified in 401k plans, CRPS - Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist, AIF - Accredited Investment Fiduciary, CLU - Chartered Life Underwriter, CLTC - Certified in Long-Term Care Planning. He is required to acquire over 100 hours of continuing education annually to maintain his designations. He is the founder of the RetirementCFO Channel on Youtube, He is a former Director of Retirement Plan Services for a 100 year old firm associated with New England Financial, Metlife and MassMutual. He was name a Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisor by both the Financial Times and Planadvisor Magazine.

  • Are you a fiduciary?

In a word, Yes. As a Certified Financial Planner, I have taken an oath to uphold the ethical standards of the CFP mark and always put our client’s best interest first. In addition, I have acquired the AIF (Accredited investment fiduciary) designation and have worked in a fiduciary capacity for multi-million dollar corporate retirement plans.

  • Does your firm provide both investment and insurance recommendations?

Most clients want to ensure their investments are well-managed and coordinated their protection planning. Many fee-only advisors won’t or can’t advise on insurance matters. That requires you to find a second insurance professional to help you. Both often act in a silo, not coordinating their efforts on your behalf. Your protection issues impact your overall financial plan and your estate. For that reason, I earned both my CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and CLTC (Certified in Long-Term Care) designations to help my clients address protection needs when necessary. We can assist with Life, Long-Term Care, Disability, and Medicare Advantage. Unlike fee-only advisors, we do not charge a fee to help you place coverage as we are compensated by the provider directly.

  • How are you different from other advisors?

Many advisors are one-trick ponies. They either handle investments or insurance, or they charge a planning fee, and then you have to implement the recommendations on your own. Others are simply sales associates for large financial institutions with unavoidable conflicts of interest. RetirementCFO is similar to a design-build construction and property management company. We create a customized plan with recommendations we call your Retirement Blueprint (the blueprint), we help you implement the recommendations (the build), we have an open-architecture product platform with no conflicts of interest or sales quotas (high-quality building products), and finally, we keep you on track to accomplish your goals (ongoing property management).

  • How do you provide ongoing client service?

First, we limit the number of new clients to ensure we can provide a high level of service. We provide ongoing plan management via annual and semi-annual in-depth reviews and quarterly check-in contacts supported by on-demand access for clients when issues arise outside of our regularly scheduled reviews. We give our clients direct access to our calendar and support communication per our client’s preferred method: Face-to-face, telephone, e-mail, zoom video, and text.

  • What other value-added things do you do for clients?

Monthly rotating topic education webinars, semi-annual market forecast presentations, periodic portfolio updates, annual virtual wine tasting events, annual client surveys, complimentary consultations for our client’s young adult children/grandchildren.
